Scott previously played for the Minnesota Wild, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks and the Buffalo Sabres. Scott was born in Edmonton, Alberta, but grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario. He graduated from Michigan Technological University in 2006.
The Florida Panthers’ Jaromir Jagr (Atlantic Division), the Chicago Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane (Central Division) and the Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin (Metropolitan Division) will be the other captains. Voting took place between Dec. 1 and Jan. 1. The rest of the rosters will be filled out by the league and announced Jan. 6.
It’s unclear if Scott will accept the invitation. The Coyotes tweeted a statement from him Dec. 3: “It’s nice to be thought of by all the fans and for that I am really truly flattered and grateful. And while I would love to experience an All-Star game. I think a few of my teammates are a bit more deserving of a vote.”
On July 1, 2010, Scott left the Wild as a free agent and signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.
In the second year of his contract in the 2011–12 season, Scott was dealt at the trade deadline to the New York Rangers for a fifth-round draft pick in 2012 on February 27, 2012.
On July 1, 2012, Scott agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Buffalo Sabres. On May 20, 2013, the Sabres re-signed Scott to a one-year contract extension worth $750,000.
On October 31, 2013, Scott was suspended 7 games for an illegal check to the head of the Bruins’ Loui Eriksson a week prior.
On December 27, 2013, Scott scored his second career goal vs Maple Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier.
He’d be right. Scott has played 11 games, registering one assist and averaging 6:18 of ice time. He has five career goals and has been waived three times this season, though he is currently on the Coyotes’ 23-man roster. There’s a chance Scott might not even be on the Coyotes’ roster by the end of the month, when the All-Star festivities begin Jan. 28.
