Semyon Varlamov Dubbed First Star of the Week

The NHL announced Monday that Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov has been named the league’s first star for the week ending Dec. 20.
Semyon Aleksandrovich Varlamov (born 27 April 1988) is a Russian professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). He first played professionally with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the then Russian Superleague (RSL) after he was drafted in the first round, 23rd overall, by the Washington Capitals in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
